JELC brings enchanting new character-driven ‘make and create’ brand for girls to BLE

An enchanting new girls’ property is making its first appearance at BLE. But this is a girls’ property with a difference. iDoo-B-Doo is both a fully realised, beautifully illustrated series of stories and a character-driven, friendship-based ‘make and create’ brand for younger girls.

At stand D065 independent licensing agency JELC, which is managing the iDoo-B-Doo licensing campaign, will be introducing Dolly Doodles and her best friend Tinkaboo, who love making things out of paper and card, together with a cast of lovable animal characters with skills of their own, ranging from sewing, woodwork and decorating to cooking — and even inventing new words! ‘I doo-B-doo Love you!’ is a favourite catchphrase!

Visitors can find out more about these delightful characters and their stunning graphical representation from the first iDoo-B-Doo storybook, Dolly Doodles and her Adventures in Muddle-Puddle, along with development plans that today bring the brand to storybooks, stickers and cases and that, in the near future, will include a range of stunning pop-out greetings cards.

But writer Sammie Luck and illustrator Mike Spoor have brought even more to the iDoo-B-Doo concept for both children and their parents: a focus on encouraging interactive play and creativity through a wide range of crafts, and a positive message of fun, friendship and achievement.

This strong crafting element is incorporated into the stories and a forthcoming style guide, and supported by a website (www.idoobdoo.com) and over one hundred high quality ‘make and create’ downloads, each one specially designed to support and promote the characters and brand, encouraging interactive play and creativity.

Along with this creative element and carefully researched content ideally suited to the 4-8-year-old target audience, the brand offers girls the chance to be a part of a very special club — the Doo-B-Doo Crew — which will bring them even more ideas and encouragement across a whole range of crafts — from cooking, sewing and sticking to drawing, glueing, photography, scrap-booking and more.

There’s also a positive message for parents — that engaging children in crafts not only supports and stimulates cognitive development, but also inspires creativity, sparks the imagination and gives children a sense of achievement.

Sammie Luck, iDoo-B-Doo creator, says: “As writers and illustrators we love beautiful and engaging stories but, as lovers of creativity, we also want to share the feeling of fun and achievement that making and creating offers to people of all ages. A lot of care, hard work and affection has gone into the iDoo-B-Doo concept and we're very much looking forward to sharing that concept and its possibilities with its young audience and their parents — and, of course, visitors to stand D065 at BLE.”

Janet Woodward, Joint Managing Director, JELC, says: “iDoo-B-Doo has been brilliantly designed to appeal across traditional outlets such as books and stationery while supporting and encouraging crafting and creative skills that little girls love and parents remember with fondness from their own childhood. We are delighted to be working with this highly original brand and concept.”
