“Pinkeltje” Feature Film gets Screenplay Funding

The development of the screenplay for the planned theatrical movie based on the children’s book series “Pinkeltje”, produced by m4e AG and blue eyes Fiction GmbH & Co. KG, will be supported by FilmFernsehFonds Bayern.

With children’s book classic „Pinkeltje“ (UK title: Fingerling), another subject from the wide right’s portfolio of m4e AG will be adapted for the big screen. The screenplay for the planned theatrical movie “Pünkel im Haus – und beinah im All” (German working title) will be sponsored by FilmFernsehFonds Bayern. The captivating adventure about little thumbling “Pinkeltje” (German title: Pünkelchen) will be produced by m4e AG in cooperation with blue eyes Fiction GmbH & Co. KG. The Munich-based production company has already realized successful theatrical projects such as “Yoko” (2012), “Hexe Lilli – Die Reise nach Mandolan” (2011) as well as “Hexe Lilli – Der Drache uns das magische Buch” (2009).

The “Pinkeltje” CGI-animation feature film is set for a theatrical release in 2016, and based on the in Germany same-named, internationally known children’s book series of writer Dick Laan. Worldwide more than 4.5 million copies of the about 30 books have already been sold. „Knowing Pünkelchen from my childhood as well, I always wanted to bring this great and timeless story to the big screen. I am happy to have won such a strong partner for this project, Corinna Mehner and blue eyes Fiction have impressively proved with various theatrical movies that they are in perfect control of producing children and family entertainemt.” adds Hans Ulrich Stoef, CEO of m4e AG.

The screenplay will be developed by author Gerrit Hermans, who previously wrote the scripts for the theatrical adventures of “Yoko” (2012) as well as for the children’s movie “Der kleine Ritter Trenk”, being currently in production.
