New to the streets of LEGO City

Lego News - February 2014

The world of LEGO City is perfect for children aged five to nine, featuring a range of figures and scenarios that kids will recognize from everyday urban life. City workers such as police officers, firefighters and engine drivers are fascinating to children, who love to recreate real-life scenes with these characters through play.

From an exhilarating car chase to rescuing a cat from a tree or putting out a fire at the airport, the LEGO City series brings real-world adventure into the playroom with a level of detail that is guaranteed to delight creative little builders. Popular themes for 2014 are the police and auto transporters.

Cops and robbers

It's a jungle out there on the LEGO City streets, and the police are going to need some top-notch equipment to catch the city’s criminals! Fortunately, loads of useful crime-fighting tools have been added to the LEGO City range for 2014. Crooks won’t stand a chance against the Police Patrol, Helicopter Surveillance and Mobile Police Unit. But there’s trouble at the Police Station – a tow truck has yanked the jail window clean off, and now, despite the surveillance cameras, a prisoner is escaping! Another crook is climbing out through the roof hatch, and a third has dug a secret escape route through the toilets. Before he and his accomplices can get over the hills and far away, the police must utilize the police dog, helicopter and motorbike to recapture the absconders. There are a total of eight new LEGO City building sets in the Police theme. All sets are perfect for children aged five and over, whose games will spring to life with details such as walkie-talkies, crowbars, handcuffs, bank notes, a flashlight, spyglass, backpack, megaphone and laptop – all the equipment young crime-fighters need to outsmart and capture the crooks.

Flaming fires and speeding wheels

Kids love big machines, as well as proving their bravery by recreating emergency situations. So when a jet engine catches fire, they will love rushing to the rescue with the Airport Fire Truck! The truck arrives promptly on the scene, pointing its water cannon and quickly extinguishing the flames with a powerful blast. In another part of LEGO City, the Auto Transporter has just delivered a batch of cars fresh from the factory to the city's car dealerships: two cool new sports cars are signed for and then offloaded. A clipboard and a briefcase are all that are needed to seal the deal. With the LEGO City sets, scenarios from everyday life can be recreated in perfect detail, providing ultimate playtime fun. The Great Vehicles range includes nine imposing vehicles and will be in stores from April.
