Garfield fans from Tallahassee to Tokyo should be on the lookout for innovative mobile and web-based digital entertainment — Garfield-style — being developed by the comical kitty’s newest partner, Bare Tree Media. Bare Tree Media, a global leader in branding mobile apps and other virtual goodies, is creating and publishing a series of online and mobile products under its master digital licensing agreement with Paws, Inc., the business and creative studio behind Garfield. The famously funny fat cat, known far and wide for his comic strip, TV shows, movies, books, and more, will extend his empire into the digital world with the help of Bare Tree, whose focus for 2014 is in three key categories: Garfield Mobile Stickers — Remember the Garfield Stuck-On-You dolls that everyone and their brother had in their car windows in the 80s? Now you can relive the moment via the virtual mobile sticker. Leveraging the explosive growth of text-messaging apps around the world, Bare Tree Media has an aggressive plan to release Garfield premium mobile stickers across its partner network of global text-messaging platforms. These mobile applications allow users to buy and text stickers (aka emoticons) to add a dash of flash and sass to their text messages. Garfield is famous for his fun (and snarky) expressions and is a perfect fit for these apps. To date, Bare Tree Media has released Garfield in: LINE, the leading text messenger app in Japan; WeChat, the leading text messaging app in China; and in Viber and MessageMe, two very popular text messaging apps in the Americas and Europe. Future releases are planned in other messenger platforms for Q1 and will continue throughout 2014 given the wide reach of Bare Tree Media’s partnerships in this explosive sector. Garfield Photo App – Can you overshare? Garfield thinks not. Everyone loves to share their photos, and now with the launch of the Garfield Snaps photo app for both iOS and Android smartphone platforms, fans can photo bomb using Garfield to their heart’s content. The app offers fans both FREE and premium Garfield photo stickers, and is updated with fresh content on a routine basis. (As is Garfield’s kitty litter.) Garfield Email –Gmail. Ymail. Hotmail. Until now everyone has had boring and generic choices for their email identity. That’s all about to change for Garfield fans. Bare Tree Media, along with partner MyBrandMail, recently launched a Garfield-approved Email service where fans can choose from a variety of personalized emails related to Garfield, such as bob@IHateMondays.net, jim@ILiveforWeekends.net, etc. Robert Ferrari, CEO at Bare Tree Media said, “Garfield is perfect for our virtual branding opportunities given the brand’s wide demographic and global appeal. We love working with the team at Paws, Inc. as we strategize together how best to launch Garfield across various digital fronts around the world. Our company has established the broadest network of global digital distribution partnerships across mobile and online platforms, giving us the ability to market Garfield to 2 billion digitally connected consumers engaged within these global platforms. We are honored and excited to include Garfield in our aggressive plans to leverage new and emerging digital opportunities.” Madelyn Ferris, VP of marketing at Paws, Inc. said, “The innovative team at Bare Tree Media offers unique insight, expertise and relationships within the digital category. We are excited for the many Garfield opportunities they have planned throughout 2014 to offer our fans some digital cat-titude.” |
