Chuggington™, the contemporary CGI animated train series for preschoolers, and Smile Train, the international children’s cleft charity, today announced that they are partnering to raise awareness and giving towards cleft lip and palate repair and related treatment, bringing smiles to children in need.

The partnership will consist of multiple initiatives aimed at connecting and engaging the organisations’ advocates with one another and driving awareness around their respective goals.

We are excited and grateful to partner with Chuggington and tap into its powerful storytelling devices to raise awareness for the vital cause of cleft lip and palate repair,” said Smile Train CEO, Susannah Schaefer. “Cleft is far more than cosmetic but also impairs eating, breathing and speaking and can lead to a life filled with shame and social isolation. Surgery can cost as little as £150, can take just 45 minutes to perform, and the impact is life-changing for children, families and communities at large.

Katie Rollings, Brand and Marketing Director at Ludorum, comments, “From one train to another, we are proud to nominate Smile Train as our official charity partner and look forward to working with them to increase awareness of the vital work they provide and help reach more children with clefts across the world.

The collaboration amplifies a shared set of core values, centered on the organisations’ global reach and commitment to empowering children to lead full, productive lives. Chuggington’s mission is to support children’s social, emotional and personal development through narratives that promote positive values such as problem solving, perseverance and self-belief.

Through its holistic approach to cleft repair, Smile Train also helps guarantee former patients’ positive, healthy development, paving the way for them to meaningfully participate in their communities and societies. The organisation’s “teach a man to fish” training model empowers local doctors to provide 100%-free, safe and high-quality surgery in their own communities. Since its founding in 1999, has provided more than one million cleft repair surgeries across the world.
