Leading European studio Rainbow has signed a major book deal for its brand new animated comedy Royal Academy (working title), with Italian publisher Fabbri Editori set to work on a range of titles.
The new agreements will see Fabbri Editori develop a full range of titles, including storybooks and activity and novelty formats, based on the magical new show. The titles will be distributed via bookstores and mass-market outlets.
“To have a publishing deal signed before the show has even broadcast shows the strength of this new property,” says Cristiana Buzzelli, VP, Contents – Digital and Publishing at Rainbow. “Fabbri Editori will make use the show’s hilarious and exciting scripts and beautiful imagery to create a magical range of books.”
The show takes some of our best-loved fairy tales and turns them on their head. It focuses on the adventures of Rose – a seemingly normal young girl who one day discovers she is actually Rose Cinderella, granddaughter of Cinderella herself. Not only that, but Rose finds out she been enrolled at Royal Academy – the exclusive school for fairy tale characters! She joins Hawk SnowWhite, Travis Beast, Hope LeFrog and Astoria Rapunzel as new students and they are all eager to shine. The viewer see everything through the wide eyes of Rose as she and her friends take on amazing adventures. They have to outsmart witches and fly dragons high in the air to impress the teachers, who include Headmistress Cinderella, Professor SnowWhite, Magister Rapunzel, Coach Beast and Doctor LeFrog!
