In two deals closed by ZDF Enterprises, Francophone Quebec TV network Canal Vie and French-speaking Swiss broadcaster RTS have just bought the rights to a major collection of romantic TV movies based on books by celebrated women authors such as Johanna Trollope, Dora Heldt, Rosamunde Pilcher, Cecelia Ahern and Barbara Wood. Supplementing these successful cycles are single TV movies. No matter whether by British, American or German authors, these romantic stories exert a particular appeal to female viewers the world over.
Owned by Bell Media, Canal Vie was launched in 1997 and concentrates on topics aimed at women, such as health, beauty, family life and interior decoration as well as documentaries. Its package consists of 15 films. The RTS collection comprises 16 films in this genre. The Radio télévision suisse (RTS) is a Swiss public broadcaster and part of SRG SSR. It was established in 2010. |
