Stefan Schneider joins the General Management

After 22 years in office, Christel Fomm, the founding member of Gruppe 5, resigned from her duties at Gruppe 5 Filmproduktion at the end of 2015. Along with Alexander Hesse, Stefan Schneider will now be heading the company’s business affairs as general Manager. He has worked as a writer, director and producer with a focus on science and nature documentaries since 1998. Stefan Schneider is looking forward to the new challenge: “After many exciting years as part of the great team of Gruppe 5, I am looking forward to the responsibility of co-managing the company.” Christel Fomm will continue assisting Gruppe 5 Filmproduktion’s future task as a writer, director and producer for the company. Alexander Hesse: “I would like to thank Christel Fomm for her excellent and trustful collaboration on the executive board. She has judiciously shaped the company and I am delighted that we can continue to benefit from her experience and creative force. With Stefan Schneider, a recognised filmmaker and successful producer is taking over her post; someone who is very familiar with the company and has an excellent network of international industry links.

Gruppe 5 Filmproduktion was founded in 1989 and mainly produces documentaries and non-fictional program for public broadcasters in Germany. It most recently created “Germany’s Cities” and “Super Talent Man” (Terra X), the theme nights with host Maybrit Illner as well as the two-part series and winner of the Bavarian Television Award “Hunger!” and “Thirst” for German public broadcaster ZDF. In 2015, the Cologne-based company produced “Giant of the North - Hamburg’s Ascent to Become a World Port” for NDR and ARTE, the docudrama “The Primus - Franz Josef Strauss” for BR, “The History of the Southwest” for SWR and “The Magnificent Ten” for ZDFneo.
