Molly Monster has always been the little one of her family – until today! Now there will be a new baby and not only Molly Monster is really excited. Also Monster Mum Etna and Dad Popocatepetel are busy getting everything ready for the newcomer. Because monster babies don’t come easily – the junior monster has to be hatched on Egg Island in the traditional monster manner. And because it’s a long journey to Egg Island, Molly shall stay behind with her uncles and Edison, her best friend. However, the little monster girl gets easily bored and decides to go on a wonderful journey through Monsterland to Egg Island all on her own – and on her way little Molly becomes a brave big monster sister ...

In an international co-production the three directors Ted Sieger, Michael Ekblad, and Matthias Bruhn have created an emotional story for very young cinema-goers with lovingly designed drawings that has already been rated “highly recommended”. After the tremendous success of the TV series that is based upon the children’s book and has repeatedly been airing as part of the Sandman Show and after a first short film that wowed the audience of international film festivals in 2004, Molly Monster now sets off to conquer the big screen with her first feature-length film in 2016. The script by John Chambers won the German Animation Script Award in 2013. Ted Sieger’s Molly Monster – The Movie made its world debut at the 66th Berlinale in the Zoo Palast Berlin in the Generation Kplus section on Monday, 15 February 2016 at 9:30.

The film is scheduled for theatrical release across Germany on 8 September 2016, distributed by Wild Bunch Germany and launched by Freebird Pictures.
