Licensing opportunities range from children’s animation to legends of rock music

Mondo TV, one of the largest European producers and distributors of animated content, is again planning a strong presence at the forthcoming Bologna Licensing Trade Fair, taking place from 4-6 April.

Visitors to Hall 31 Stand B19 will be able to hear about a number of licensing opportunities in established children’s shows as well as innovative new series for everyone from pre-schoolers to tweens. There’s also an exciting property from a completely different area: an iconic name in the history of rock, pop and jazz.

Sissi the Young Empress is already a hit with viewers. The story of the charming, free-spirited young Empress of Austria, has fired the imaginations of many storytellers over the years, and was the inspiration for the romantic and delightful co-production between Mondo TV and Il Sole di Carta that have already produced a first series of 26 x 26 episodes. Now a second season of 26 X 26 episodes is under production and visitors to the Mondo stand can find out about a growing number of licensing opportunities for this thrilling and engrossing reimagining of a classic story.

New animated series The Treasure Island is, of course, inspired by the R. L. Stevenson masterpiece. But this 26 x 26-episode series takes us far beyond the island, to the continuing adventures of Jim Hawkins and an exciting cast of friends (and enemies) in a 3D CGI series that will delight young viewers everywhere.

For boys — and girls — who love the thrills and spills of motor racing there’s The Drakers, an innovative and exciting animated series that gives young viewers a real taste of the passion and excitement of the sport. The Drakers focuses on the adventures of two young boys striving to succeed in the Formula X World Championship in 26 thrilling 26-minute episodes.

Not yet officially launched, but previewing at Bologna, are the 52 x 11 Adventures in Duckport, in which many of the characters from the popular Suzy’s Zoo save the day — and get into trouble and the 52 x 13-episode Yoohoo & Friends, in which a group of friends get together to save the universe from space trash. This series is a co - production between Mondo TV and Aurora World Corp., the leading character company of affordable, high quality plush toys and gifts. The series is based on the homonymous plush line created by Aurora with over 40 million plush toys sold globally in over 60 countries since their very first launch in 2007.

As subagent for Crazy Bell Agency, Mondo TV will also be highlighting The Famous London Marquee Club in Italy, Spain and Portugal. For five decades this historic venue located in the heart of London played host to some of the most important artists on the music scene. The list of acts that performed at the Marquee includes famous singers and groups such as AC / DC, Aerosmith, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Pink Floyd, Rod Stewart, The Police, The Rolling Stones, The Who and many others.

Matteo Corradi, CEO of Mondo TV says: “With a strong slate of television programmes aimed at children from pre-school to tween, not to mention rock legends, we have a strong and diversified set of properties for this year’s Bologna, with opportunities across numerous licensing categories. We look forward to greeting partners old and new to Hall 31 Stand B19!
