Rainbow – the leading animation studio in Europe and one of the world’s biggest licensors – is bringing magic to MIP TV 2016 with a number of announcements, among them the imminent arrival of some brand new shows including Regal Academy and Maggie & Bianca Fashion Friends, and World of Winx, the first NetFlix Originals show from global smash-hit Winx Club.

Regal Academy takes the familiar world of fairy tales and turns it on its head! This hilarious, fresh and funny new show has impeccable pedigree as it’s the creation of Iginio Straffi, the man behind Winx Club. It focuses on the adventures of Rose Cinderella, a normal girl who suddenly she finds herself in the world of Fairy Tales where she discovers that Cinderella is… her granny! Rose is enrolled at the fabled Regal Academy where her fellow students include Hawk SnowWhite, Travis Beast, Joy LeFrog, Astoria Rapunzel and LingLing Iron Fan, all of whom belong to the school’s founding families.

This sparkling new series features an irresistible mixture of comedy, music and exciting new animation techniques. Regal Academy has a worldwide deal with Nickelodeon, and is also showing its enormous licensing potential, with the main categories already snapped up, including the pan-European master toy license, which has been awarded to Giochi Preziosi.

Maggie & Bianca Fashion Friends is Rainbow’s first foray into a full live-action production and promises to delight audiences around the world with a tale of two cultures coming together. The show tells the story of Maggie - an ordinary American girl with a dream of becoming the world’s greatest fashion designer. She gets her chance on her 16th birthday, when she becomes the youngest contestant ever to win a two-year scholarship at the Milan Fashion Academy. There she meets Bianca, a self-proclaimed Italian ‘princess’, and together they make friends with other students, who all share a passion for fashion and music. The show follows their friendships, competitions, love stories, dreams and disappointments – as well as the discovery of secrets that change their lives forever!

This show has also enjoyed a powerful licensing response across many categories, led by Simba as the pan- European master toy licensee. Many more licensees are expected to join in the coming months.

World of Winx is an all-new show starring the characters from the hugely popular Winx Club, with all the fun, excitement, mystery, action and humour that has made Winx Club such a phenomenally popular girls’ property.

In this new show, the Winx fairies visit earth as scouts for talent show WOW! As they search across the globe for talented kids they come across the Talent Thief – a mysterious villain who is capturing gifted children! The Winx must go undercover and hide their fairy identities - often with hilarious consequences - to outfox the Talent Thief, find his secret headquarters and protect the children of earth.
