BBC Worldwide appoints agency for key brand representation

BBC Worldwide today announced that it has appointed leading licensing agency CPLG to represent its flagship brands for licensing across all EMEA territories (excluding UK). The brands include Top Gear, Doctor Who, BBC Earth and pre-school shows Hey Duggee, Go Jetters and Sarah & Duck.

Andrew Moultrie, Director of Consumer Products, Publishing and Web Properties, BBC Worldwide said, “From preschoolers to petrolheads our brands are loved around the world by audiences of all ages. Our licensing business exists to extend fan’s enjoyment of the BBC programmes they love and CPLG are the perfect partner to help us do this.”

Top Gear is the world’s most-watched factual entertainment show and has just announced a new contract with Hollywood star Matt Le Blanc for season 24. Doctor Who is the world’s longest running sci-fi drama and is set to return in 2017 for its highly anticipated tenth season. BBC Earth is the umbrella brand for BBC Worldwide’s pioneering and peerless nature and science programmes including the awe-inspiring Planet Earth II which hits screens this autumn.

BBC Worldwide has also recently revitalized its pre-school offering with new series of Go Jetters, Hey Duggee and Sarah & Duck leading the pack.

BBC Worldwide and CPLG are jointly developing long term strategies for the brands, with Steve Manners, EVP CPLG explaining that “the BBC portfolio will be managed across both our Brands and Entertainment teams. Top Gear is an outstanding brand globally and there are real opportunities in the lifestyle space. Doctor Who brings incredible heritage to the mix on the entertainment side and there are some really exciting developments underway which will help drive a major consumer products business”

Both BBC Worldwide and CPLG are present at BLE on stands E20 and C30 respectively and will be showcasing the brands and commencing discussions with prospective partners.
