  • Exports from the European Union to other countries represented €1.125 billion for toys and video games in 2005, i.e. a decrease of 5.3% compared to 2004. The United States remains the EU’s main customer with 20.3% of all exports
  • Imports to the European Union from other countries accounted for €10.271 billion of toys and video games, i.e. increase of 21.8% compared to 2004. Asia is the leading supplier of toys with 94.6% of the total import.
“We are delighted to see that despite a less than optimal economic climate in Europe, toy production in this market continues to increase steadily. It is particularly encouraging to see a sector which is largely composed of small and medium-sized enterprises demonstrating such dynamism and resilience in a highly unpredictable market,” states Bryan Ellis, Chairman of TIE. “Above all else, the toy industry recognises the value of play as an integral part of child development. This is what drives our industry, makes us one of the most dynamic business sectors in Europe and will help us to continue to grow in the future.”
