The National Gallery, London is the fourth most visited museum in the world with a staggering 6 million + visitors each year, over 60% of whom are from overseas, and has strong awareness and appeal both in the UK and Internationally. The collection houses some of the world’s most recognisable paintings including Van Gogh’s Sunflowers and Monet’s The Water-Lily Pond. Having established the UK licensing programme just over 3 years ago and already boasting nearly 40 licensees across numerous categories the National Gallery is now expanding Internationally and we look forward to welcoming you on our booth in Las Vegas on the Beanstalk stand G156 The National Gallery, London, and JELC, the Gallery’s global licensing agency, have announced the Gallery’s first international agency agreement, covering the Japanese market. The agreement, with respected merchandising agent Copyrights Asia, was signed at Licensing Expo, Las Vegas. Judith Mather, Director of Buying and Brand Licensing at the National Gallery, says: “After months of work following our trip to Japan last July we are delighted to be working with Copyrights Asia and look forward to building a very successful programme in Japan.” Wine producer Santa Rita from Chile have exploited the symbiotic relationship between wine and art with a range of wines that allows people to appreciate beautiful art while drinking high quality wine. The wine appears in 450 Sainsbury’s Supermarkets and other retailers in the UK and is now being expanded further and taken to international markets including China and other territories. Leading Book publisher Hachette has produced Children’s and Adult books through 3 of its’ divisions and distributed Internationally. The National Galley’s Dot to Dot of great paintings has done particularly well in the US and in Asia.

Alfilo Brands is partnering with e-commerce giant Alibaba, China’s largest supplier base, to bring the Gallery’s collection of some of the greatest paintings in the world to the Chinese market with licensed National Gallery merchandise sold through online stores, pop-up shops and concessions in department stores across China. The range will begin launching later in 2018. For the third year running, a range of Food Gifting items will be featured in leading retail chain Boots in the UK, brought to the market by Scoop Designs. Following the success of the first range in 2016, the range was expanded further for 2017 and saw sales up nearly 30% YOY, a 98% sell–through and was the second best-selling brand in Food Gifting. The 2018 range will launch later this year. I Like Birds
JELC are the exclusive worldwide licensing agent for I Like Birds – a finalist at the License This! Competition at the end of 2016, I Like Birds now boasts 4 key licensees on board covering several key categories and looks set to take-off in 2018. Browntrout Publisher launched their first range of Calendars and Diaries last year and saw distribution on many key UK high street retailers including WHSmith, Waterstones, Wyevale, Dobbies, Blue Diamond, Calendar Club and several lines at the top of the Amazon Best Sellers. They are now building on that success with an expanded range for 2018.

Market-leading greeting card publisher, The Art File, launched a range of greeting cards earlier this year and is delighted with the success so far. Having started in the UK, cards have recently launched in the US and they have had orders from France and several other European countries. Plan are already in place to expand the range further with additional cards, gift bags and wrap. Leading publisher, Quadrille launched their first range of stationery including diaries, address book, notebooks, jotter pads and notecards and envelopes in April 2018 with strong pre-orders from key UK retailers. Plans are already in place to roll out to International markets including the US.

Summer 18 sees the launch of My Gifts Trade much anticipated ceramics, textiles, coasters and doormats which were shortlisted for Gift Year of 2018. We’re also delighted to announce a sub-agency agreement with Home Made Licensing in France. Signed earlier this year, they are already well into discussions with their first licensee for the French and Benelux markets.
