“Dragon”, the popular children’s show by scopas medien, has been nominated for the children programming award “Goldener Spatz 2007”. The episode “Be the best” will be presented at the “Children’s Film&TV Festival” in Gera and Erfurt as nominee in the category “animation”. From May 8th to 16th a panel of 32 children judges aged between nine and thirteen honours the best German children’s films, co-productions and TV shows with the coveted “Goldener Spatz” Award. The nominated episode revolves around the little, chubby dragon who one day wanted to show his friends that also he is the best at something. Although his friends laugh at his failed attempts in “walking backwards” and “piling the dishes as silently as possible” he fortunately never runs short of new ideas.

“We are excited to be nominated by the selection committee”, said Jan Bonath, seniour executive scopas medien AG. “So good story-telling, intelligent entertainment and our unusual stop-motion-format are still fascinating.” The exceptional stop motion technique uses figures made of silicone-rubbery material. Between two pictures taken, the figures make just minute movements. Thus 25 individual pictures per second perfectly simulate smooth moves. scopas medien co-developed and co-produced the children’s format “Dragon” in 2004. Today the popular series airs in more than 40 countries, including Germany (ZDF/KI.KA), Belgium (Ketnet), the Netherlands (z@pp), Italy (RAI) the USA (Qubo) and Canada (Treehouse). A third season with another 26 episodes has just been finished.

Also the cult comedy “Deutsche 11 backstage” by scopas medien is able to celebrate another great success. More than three million people have already been watching episodes of this independent rubber comedy about Germany’s national football team on the internet – only this year. On May 9th, the website www.D11B.tv will receive the intermedia-globe SILVER Award at the “WorldMediaFestival 2007” in Hamburg.
