ZDF Enterprises has just entered into a collaboration with "Wall to Wall," one of the most renowned UK production companies, for the distribution of the British firm's programs in the German-language territories. The program package from "Wall to Wall" that ZDF Enterprises will be taking to the international documentary market "Sunny Side of the Doc" in La Rochelle from 26 to 29 June 2007 includes the six-part series "Stranger than Fiction," which will be completed by the end of the year, the four-parter "Underworld Histories," the classic "The Oil Storm," and the eight-part PBS series "Texas Ranch House." Having already successfully marketed several "Wall to Wall" programs via third parties in the German-speaking countries, ZDF Enterprises is now launching a direct collaboration. "In late 2006," explains Fred Burcksen, VP Distribution, Merchandising and Investments of ZDF Enterprises, "we laid down a new strategy to expand the business sector 'distribution mandates and company purchases in the German territories.' We are now implementing this strategy and supplementing our program portfolio with presales and high-quality titles." Both "Wall to Wall" and ZDF Enterprises are looking forward to building up their successful partnership on a mandate basis in the future. 'Wall to Wall, who celebrated their 20th birthday this year, have a global reputation for high quality, innovative programming. They have won numerous international awards for productions such as Baby It's You, The 1900 House and George Orwell: A Life in Pictures, as well as more recent shows such as Who Do You Think You Are? Claire Hungate, Commercial Director commented; "Although our strategy is to distribute our programming using our in house distribution arm, Germany is a difficult market and we felt that ZDF Enterprises were uniquely positioned to undertake the widest possible exploitation of this package of programming in their territory'". |
