From teddy bear manufacturer to modern baby toy manufacturer

Music boxes, music mobiles, griffins and activity crawling blankets: Today, toy manufacturer Fehn inspires with its wide range of baby toys in colorful designs. The aim is also to promote the child's motor skills and the development of sight, hearing and touch. The traditional Upper Franconian company is now already over 70 years old. "We are proud to have always reacted flexibly to the changes in the market. With our innovative product concepts and our high standards of quality and manufacturing expertise, we have been able to hold our own in the toy industry over all these years," comments Arnold Fehn, owner and managing director of Fehn GmbH & Co. KG, comments on the success of his company. Although, in addition to the company's location and management, it is primarily the products that have changed, the traditional values have been preserved over generations and also guarantee the future success of the brand. The quality of the products as well as fair working conditions always come first.

Quality toy manufacturer Fehn - From the beginnings until today
The history of Fehn GmbH & Co. KG in Rödental goes back to the year 1949. At that time, it was company founder Arthur Fehn who began manufacturing and trading toys in Oeslau, Franconia. One year after Liebreich Wolf joined Fehn's side and Fehn, Wolf & Co KG was founded in Coburg in January 1950, the company location moved to neighboring Dörfles. Wolf's early departure at the end of 1954 and the subsequent company change to Fehn & Co. KG was followed in 1958 by Arnold Fehn Senior joining the company. In 1972 the company finally returned to Rödental and since 1991 has been run under the name Fehn GmbH & Co. KG since 1991. Since 1994, the company, located in Upper Franconia, has been successfully managed in the third generation by Managing Director Arnold Fehn Junior.

While the toys were initially manufactured at the company's home base, production has gradually been relocated to Sri Lanka since 1984. After taking over the management of Fehn GmbH & Co. KG, Arnold Fehn Junior deliberately did not rely on foreign suppliers, but on his own company sites under German management and manufacturing according to German quality standards. He founded the company Paradise Toys in Hendala Wattala in 1995 and expanded production in 2010 with a second manufacturing company in Madurankuliya, Sri Lanka. His brother Achim has been responsible for production there for many years.

In addition to the management, the company name and the company location, the product range changed over time: The first products included porcelain dolls and dressed dolls made of papier-mâché. Gradually, the product range was expanded to include mechanical toys and plush toys, until finally, in 1975, the manufacture of baby toys made of Nicki and fabric began. Since 1996, production has been limited exclusively to this area - including music boxes, music mobiles, grasping toys and crawling blankets.

Production in Sri-Lanka according to German quality standards
As a manufacturer of baby toys and toddler articles, quality and safety are Fehn's top priorities. In addition to constant strict controls of the materials used in production, all products are regularly tested for safety and harmlessness. Fehn also places great value on the expertise of independent institutes such as Stiftung Warentest and Ökotest. All test results, as well as the opinions of customers, are continuously incorporated into the optimization of product development and quality management. Furthermore, it is a matter of course for Managing Director Arnold Fehn to guarantee fair working conditions for his Sri Lankan employees. Without their performance, Fehn GmbH & Co KG would not be what it is today. The Sri Lankan employees can rely one hundred percent on health and safety at work.

Colorful baby toys for shining eyes
In addition to their high quality, baby toys from Fehn also impress with their particularly child-friendly design. The colorful products made of extremely soft fabric or Nicki combine modern, innovative design with well thought-out functionality. With their big heads, round googly eyes, clumsy paws and soft ball-shaped bellies, the imaginative creatures from the realm of the cuddly animals fulfill all the criteria of the little child's schema and thus quickly become a favorite cuddle partner. Thanks to strong colors and intense contrasts, the motley toys can be perceived intensively. They convey the entire color spectrum and thus train the eyesight of the offspring. Musical clocks, integrated small mirrors, teethers, rustling paper, squeakers and rattles also promote both the sense of touch and hearing as well as the motor skills of the little adventurers.
