Jumbo presents unconventional puzzle novelties!

Jumbo Spiele - February 2021

In focus: Jan van Haasteren and Wasgij

Jigsaw puzzles are more in vogue than ever. Whereas in the past it used to be classic motives such as cities or flower pictures, today's puzzle fans are looking for the unusual. Jumbo has two such lines in its program, inviting customers to enjoy unconventional puzzles, and both feature some great new products.

First, there's Jan van Haasteren. The legendary Dutch comic artist has been working with Jumbo for decades and has a huge fan base. Now, for the first time, he presents a Junior series with puzzles ranging from 150 to 360 pieces. His typical style remains unmistakable, on the the pictures teeming with whimsical figures that want to be discovered and often trigger laughs. The puzzle pieces are much larger than usual and can be easily put together by small children's hands. The motives are all taken from the kids' world, for example a completely crazy school class. Some of the characters have been in the Van Haasteren pictures for ages. This time some of them have booked a "South Pole expedition". Amidst snow, ice and penguins, the humorously drawn crew of adventurers is on the way. And what we didn't know yet: There's obviously a lot more going on at the South Pole than we thought. Besides the Jan Van Haasteren offers a wealth of other new puzzles in his characteristic style: from the food truck to the cruise ship to the song contest.

A change of perspective is the order of the day with the "Wasgij" puzzles. You do not puzzle a given picture here. To solve it, it needs imagination and a few clues, and that's what makes the whole thing so delightful and exciting. With the three retro motives "Cheap offer booked!", "Time travel!" and "Sunday Dinner!", successful puzzles from the Original, Destiny, and Mystery series are reissued. What do the travelers see, looking spooked at the tour guide? What might an Airport from earlier times look like today? And what happens at Sunday dinner in a crowded restaurant when little Tim doesn't like his vegetables? Current Wasgij puzzles are available at Jumbo also with new motives. "Good resolutions for the new year!" has a colorful aerobics group, which puts itself mightily into the stuff. One lady seems shocked - but why? That's exactly what's at stake in this 1000-piece Wasgij original to puzzle. It's "Disposal without worries?" that's at stake in the new Wasgij Destiny - the question is, how the scenery of a chaotic garbage mountain could look in the future. The world appears wonderful in "Idyll in the mountains". According to the mystery puzzle concept, the task is to find out what could happen next on this day.
