REVELL - July 2007

 Revell presents:

Tug Boat Smit Houston

A little power packet that comes out big in 1:200! This over 67 m long ocean-going harbour tug with its super power is capable of towing e.g. large stranded ships and towing them over large distance. The career of the "Houston" started when she was launched and named on 11.12.1976 at the Verolme shipyards in Heusden. Then on 22.4.1977 she was delivered to the Smit international shipping company at Rotterdam under the ship's number 935. The "Houston" belongs to the same up to 16,000 ihp class as the similar "New York", which was based on the earlier 22,000 ihp "Smit Rotterdam" and "Smit London" class. This ocean-going tugboat has a length of 67.50 m, a beam of 14.55 m and a draught of 6.23 m. The "Houston" is driven by two 6-cylinder Stork Werkspoor diesel engines with a capacity of 2 x 4,600 pk = 2 x 3,380 kW. The "Houston" reaches an operational speed of 14 knots and has a bollard pull of 120 tonnes.

In August the Smit Houston will see her relaunch - 30 years after her first maiden voyage. Thanks to latest 3D-CAD techniques, this high-quality miniature ship in 1:200 is accurate in most technical details.

The 33.8 cm model consists of 140 parts and can be easily converted into a radio controlled model.

Medicopter 117

With its technical potential the aircraft became soon known as the helicopter of superlatives. But only its role as action hero on RTL made the BK 117 truly famous. Breathtaking flight manoeuvres, spectacular rescues and a medical team racing against time. The focal point of the new RTL Medical Action Series Medicopter 117 - every life counts - is two rescue teams with their helicopter. The BK 117 equipped with two turbines is one of the most successful multi-purpose helicopters.

What is more, also model makers love to assemble the Medicopter. Due to the continuous success of the 1:72 scales kit, Revell decided to launch an additional larger scale model in 1:32.

Four brand-new easykit jets

Quick to assemble - and off you go! – The easykit concept by revel is indeed that simple. Parts come already primed and are just clipped together without glue. This guarantees quick model making success and more play fun!

In July Revell extends their popular range for young model maker aged 8 and up by four high-quality jet fighters in 1:100 scales. All aircrafts come with an attractive paint finish and painted pilot figures.

The new kits feature highly detailed models of worldwide popular jet fighters. The original Tornado has already been launched in the late 70ies. The Eurofighter is a co-operation of four European countries – the UK, Germany, Italy and Spain. This top modern fighter fascinates with sensational flight manoeuvres and high versatility. Last but not least Revell presents easykits of the F-18 Hornet and the F-14 Tomcat.
