TV-Loonland's THE OWL becomes part of re-branded children's channel, CBBC

TV-Loonland - 12 September 2007

TV-Loonland is delighted to announce that its multiplatform CGI series THE OWL (52 x 1-minute) has been acquired by BBC to support its re-branded children's channel, CBBC, unveiling its new look on 3rd September 2007.

With a view of repositioning itself as a multiplatform brand, the BBC has picked up the exclusive UK TV rights on THE OWL, a co-production by TV-Loonland, Paris based Studio Hari and French broadcaster France 3. CBBC launched the series on 4th September 2007 in key slots throughout the day. Currently THE OWL airs every weekday, both in the morning at 7.55 am and the afternoon at 3.40 pm.

Already broadcast with huge success by France 3, THE OWL was the second most watched children's show in July. The series features a rather grouchy Owl and a forest filled with sadistic animals. The Owl's mission in life is to basically try and stay in one piece. This hilarious comedy is a perfect fit to support the CBBC goal of attracting a wider audience of boys and girl aged six to 12-years-old and in fact for all those that are never too old for a bit of mischief.

Justine Bannister, Head of International Distribution & Acquisitions at TV-Loonland commented: "We are so thrilled to have found such a perfect "nest" in the UK for our beloved little pink fellow. The short one-minute format, superb quality of animation and story-telling appear to fit well into CBBC's multiplatform goals. As an integral part of the Channel's impressive line-up, we believe THE OWL will begin its career in the UK with perfect TV exposure and from there on lead a full and successful life on mobile and internet platforms."
