Next year Garfield celebrates his 30th anniversary with numerous special Garfield activities and events. Joachim Knödler, Sales & Retail Director, Copyright Promotions: "Garfield is the cult cat indeed. His unparalleled nonchalance makes him unique and loveable at the same time. In short: He’s a character that appeals to every age group." It’s probably his cynical approach to human problems that makes Garfield unrivalled and so extremely popular. The stories on Garfield, the dog Odie and their awkward owner Jon Arbuckle fascinate a large worldwide fan base. The main target group of children aged between 6 and 12 love Garfield as a funny, cheeky cat. Grown-ups appreciate his nasty remarks. Garfield still benefits from his overwhelming success in the 1980ies. New and younger fans are enthused by his successful TV shows and movies. Copyright Promotions targets this new fan base with new, appealing products. Today the product portfolio includes romper suits for the littlest, stylish t-shirts for women and boxer shorts for men as well as books and DVDs. Quarterly, the Egmont Publishing Company releases collective editions with Garfield comic strips of two years in chronological order. This November Volume 5 of the Garfield Collective Edition will hit the shelves, containing all strips published between 1986 and 1988 in chronological order. |
