TV-Loonland appointed for distribution of Nippon Animation's property PENELOPE

TV-Loonland - 19th September 2007

TV-Loonland is pleased to announce its appointment by renowned Japanese production company Nippon Animation to handle multi-territory distribution for its pre-school property PENELOPE (26 x 5'minute).

Under the deal, TV-Loonland will handle rights for TV, Home Video, VoD, Broadband, IPTV and Mobile Sales to Western and Eastern Europe, Russia, Baltic States, Scandinavia, Israel, the Middle East as well as Africa including South Africa.

Based on the children's book series "Pénélope" written by Anne Gutman and illustrated by Georg Hallensleben, this unique 3D animation is aimed at early preschoolers and is a co-production by Nippon Animation, NHK Enterprises and Shirogumi Inc.

The series portrays adorably inquisitive Penelope and lovingly illustrates the positive little stories about everyday life with her family and friends. Without lacking an educational note, the stories are told with humour and affection and are an absolute delightful experience for its very young viewers.

Olivier Dumont, Managing Director at TV-Loonland, commented: "We are very pleased and honoured about Nippon Animation appointing us for distribution of PENELOPE. Supported by its strong publishing heritage and a true ratings and L&M success in Japan, the property is ready to conquer the rest of the world."

"We are delighted about this new partnership with TV-Loonland on the distribution of PENELOPE" said Yasuhiko Matsuoka, General Manager at Nippon Animation. "We are sure that their talent and experience in managing top international brands will give PENELOPE a big momentum and improved positioning in the market".

The show has been officially selected for "Best Animated Series for Young Children" at this year's International Animated Film Festival in Annecy, France.
