BRB Internacional - October 2007

The new BRB production, co-produced with TVE, is also triumphing in Spain, where Famosa has just launched its first line of toys

Iron Kid just keeps on adding to its success. The BRB Internacional series, currently airing in open-broadcast format in the USA on the hit program Kids WB! under the title Eon Kid, has just become the most-viewed children’s show in open-broadcast on Saturday mornings in America. According to the Nielsen Ratings, Eon Kid had a 1.9/8 rating last Saturday, October 13th, vaulting it to the top of the list of the forty shows on various US networks directed at the same target audience. A new milestone for a production that debuted on September 22nd in first place among open-broadcast series in the same time spot. Likewise, in Spain, the public broadcaster TVE is set to air the series on weekends soon, on its first channel, TVE-1. Also, the Spanish multi-national Famosa has just put out on the market the first line of toys inspired by the series, including an exact replica of the spectacular Fist of Eon that empowers the saga’s protagonist and a complete range of action figures based on the main characters.

Co-produced by BRB Internacional, Screen 21, Manga Entertainment, Designstorm, Daewon Media and TVE, the series Iron Kid is an action/adventure saga targeted to a familiar audience. Through its twenty-six episodes, an ingenious plot created by Nicole Dubuc (Kim Possible) and Ben Townsend (Ninja Turtles) winds around the life experiences of young Marty, a boy from the future who discovers the Fist of Eon, a robotic arm that gives him unknown powers and places him at the forefront of a centuries-old battle between good and evil. Iron Kid is enjoying outstanding success among young audiences in the different countries it is airing: for example, Spain (Canal Clan and Jetix continue showing it, while TVE-2 carried it this summer), Latin America (Jetix), Korea (KBS), etc…. Over the next few weeks, it will also debut in open-broadcast format in Italy, Portugal, Russia, Bulgaria, Middle East, Ecuador y Turkey.

In addition, Iron Kid has developed an ample licensing and merchandising strategy that has led to the signing of many agreements other than the one mentioned above -- Playmates, the partner of Iron Kid in the U.S. and Canada is developing a wide range of toys, from action figures to vehicles and transformers, among others; in Costa Rica, CRG has also just launched its product, for example, but in a wider range of product categories: Artesanía Cerdá has designed an attractive line of Back-to-School supplies inspired by the series, New Boy Charcater & Licensing Division has acquired the textile rights for the Middle East and North Africa and QRC has acquired the DVD distribution rights for Iron Kid in the United Arab Emirates, to cite just a few.
