ZDF Enterprises to handle international distribution for another successful DR TV production after "The Eagle"

ZDF Enterprises - November 2007

ZDF crime series "The Killing" nominated for International Emmy as Best Drama Series

The series THE KILLING, to be aired on ZDF in Spring 2008, has been nominated for an International Emmy, competing with three other productions in the final round of the competition for Best Drama Series. The winner will be announced at the 35th International Emmy Awards Gala on 19th November 2007 in New York. THE KILLING is a modern thriller series with an unusual and innovative narrative structure. The story was developed by the Danish team Piv Bernth (producer) and Sören Sveistrup (author) and was discoevered for the German market by Peter Nadermann, head of the Cologne office of ZDF Enterprises for Coproduction and Material Development in fictional productions.

The series consists of 20 episodes, each depicting the events of one day during the 20-day hunt for a murderer – a hunt which has a profound effect on the three leading figures in the story: a detective who is about to give up her job, a politician in the middle of his election campaign, and the father from a poor background whose daughter was the murder victim. THE KILLING is a coproduction by DR TV-Drama, Danish Broadcasting Corp., ZDF, ZDF Enterprises, NRK and SVT, with the support of the Nordvision Fund Denmark.

Dr. Alexander Coridass, President and CEO of ZDF Enterprises, is delighted: "THE KILLING is our second successful coproduction with DR TV after THE EAGLE, continuing the excellent co-operation between our two organisations. ZDF Enterprises will also handle worldwide distribution for THE KILLING. We are eager to find out whether THE KILLING will win the International Emmy for Best Drama Series – just as THE EAGLE did in 2005."
