John King To Lead Disney Consumer Products in Australia and New Zealand

Disney Consumer Products (DCP) announces the promotion of John King to Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand, who brings over 14 years of industry experience into the business to drive the merchandise licensing and Retail Sales and Marketing functions in both markets.

In his new role, John will lead the development and implementation of the overall strategic plan for the two markets, to drive retail plans across multiple Disney business units to maximize revenue, and to ensure a strong retail presence for the Disney brand. John will have full management responsibility over multiple key business categories: Retail Sales and Marketing; Apparel, Accessories and Footwear; Toys; Home; Stationery; Food, Health, Beauty and Pets.

DCP is the market leader in character merchandising with USD $23 billion in global retail sales for fiscal year 2006 and has been actively developing entertaining and fun consumer products and services inspired by popular Disney characters since 1929.

Previously serving as Director, Sales and Trade, for Food, Health and Beauty division at DCP, John built solid relationships and developed highly successful product initiatives with General Mills and Costco. Prior to Disney, John held key business development and sales roles at General Mills for 12 years.

John King is based in the Disney Consumer Products office in Melbourne, Australia.
