Horrid Henry Signs With CPLG

Brandora News - January 2008

CPLG have been appointed as licensing agents for the UK and Europe for the major new children’s property Horrid Henry.

Life isn't fair when you're a kid - just ask Henry! This is especially true when your ABSOLUTELY perfect brother, Perfect Peter, loves green vegetables and is a founder member of the Best Boy's Club! Henry has become a huge publishing brand in the UK with approx 6 million books sold. Created by Francesca Simon, illustrated by Tony Ross and published by Orion Books, the Horrid Henry stories have been translated into 19 languages.

Henry has struck a chord with young readers in the UK where two out of three kids between 5 and 8 own a copy of one of Horrid Henry’s 25+ book or audio book titles. Horrid Henry’s Bedtime, issued for World Book Day in March 2005, was even the first title to knock Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code off the top of the bestseller list!

Now Horrid Henry is coming to TV with a brand new animated series produced by Novel Entertainment, the leading independent producer behind such hits as Fimbles and The Roly Mo Show. The show premiered on CITV with a Halloween special and, from November 8th, will air weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings on ITV1. In addition to this outstanding terrestrial platform, Horrid Henry will also air daily on the CITV channel, representing a major commitment from the broadcaster.

Copyright Promotions will act as licensing agent in the UK and Europe for Horrid Henry and will manage all aspects of merchandise & promotional licensing with the exception of publishing, which will continue to be managed by Orion.

Says CPLG Managing Director Vickie O’Malley: “Horrid Henry is a magnificent property with an outstanding publishing record. We’re excited about the possibilities for the licensing programme and feedback from potential licensees has been fantastic. We are looking forward to developing the brand to its fullest potential and bringing the spirit of Henry to life through consumer product and promotions.“

”Mike Watts, MD of Novel Entertainment says: “Copyright Promotions have built an enviable reputation for their extensive work in the character brand arena acquired over many years. They have an excellent team and a terrific international set up to exploit character brands. We believe they are exactly the right company to market the Horrid Henry brand licensing campaign.”
