"Iron Kid" to escort BRB to NATPE 2008

On the strength of its success in Latin America and the USA, the series will premier in Portugal on the open-broadcast channel TVI on 2 February.

The cartoon series Iron Kid will be one of the outstanding properties the Spanish company BRB Internacional will present at the upcoming edition of NATPE, the prestigious television fair to be held at the end of this month in Las Vegas. On the strength of great audience success in both Latin America – where it is aired through Jetix Latin America – and the USA – where is known as Eon Kid, thanks to the renowned program Kids WB! – this action/adventure saga knows no borders: This coming February 2nd it will premier in open-broacasting format in Portugal on TVI – which will air it every Saturday and Sunday at 9 a.m.- Also, Ecuavisa in Ecuador, Channel One Russian Worldwide in Russia, B92 in Serbia, or Spacetoon TV in the Middle East, have in open-broadcasting formats this animated TV series, which is simultaneously making a name for itself in the world of licesing: in Spain, Famosa plans to launch a line of toys following the excellent response to its first collection. In Chile, Imexporta is marketing an attractive line of action figures. And Playmates has been chosen as the partner in the area of related toy spinoffs in Mexico, the USA, Canada and Australia, while many other projects are in the works.

Set in a future world overrun by robots, Iron Kid consisted of 26 first-season episodes done in spectacular 3D perfectly integrating European, American and Asian styles. Its protagonist is young Marty, an intrepid teenager who, after discovering the legendary Fist of Eon, become the leader of a centuries-old battle between Good and Evil. His exciting and very entertaining adventures are a bit hit in Latin America, where the series is currently being aired in several countries – specifically in Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia and Brazil – through Jetix Latin America . Also, in Brazil, Som&Imagen is working on the imminent launch of the first DVD of the series. Meanwhile, in Portugal, LNK will also launch Iron Kid on a DVD format in the wake of the series’ premiere on TVI.

Likewise, the series has become a real standout in the USA – where, since last September, it has been a regular on CW Channel’s Kids WB! under the title Eon Kid, in allusion to the lineage of the main character-. According to data from the last trimester of 2007, Iron Kid has become the most-viewed TV series in its time frame – at 10 a.m. – and amongst its target audience – kids from 6 to 11. Recently, Playmates has launched on the American market a very successful range of toys based on the series, including vehicles and Role Play games complementing the action figures and a reproduction of the Fist of Eon wielded by the protagonist. For their part, Anchor Bay Ent. is set to lauch next autumn the episodes of Eon Kid in DVD format throughout the USA.
