Smiley + Jean Charles de Castelbajac announce collaboration for AW 2008

Smiley Licensing - April 2008

French fashion and accessories brand Smiley Collection has collaborated with iconic French designer Jean Charles de Castelbajac for AW 08.
The line will be called Jean Charles de Castelbajac + Smiley.

The familiar, original 1970’s Smiley logo was featured throughout Castelbajac’s Autumn Winter 08 catwalk show in Paris in March. Both men’s and women’s clothing and accessories collections proudly displayed the logo on knitwear and jersey pieces in quirky, original ways, staying true to the non-conformist identity of both brands.

The collaboration forms part of the Jean Charles de Castelbajac
AW 08 collection and will be sold through the label’s worldwide network, including their new concept store on London’s Conduit Street.

Smiley donates 10% of its sales to Smiley World Association, an independent charity founded in 2005 to fight against all forms of social exclusion. When purchasing Smiley Collection products consumers do not only show a positive spirit but also "Share their smile with those in need".

Nicolas Loufrani, MD of Smiley Collection says “I am a big fan of Jean Charles de Castelbajac’s creations and his cultural approach to fashion. He really is a master of graphics and I was sure he would find great ways to reinterpret Smiley. I really thank Jean Charles for having enabled Smiley to be part of the Paris catwalk shows this year”.

This forms part of 4 collaborations that feature the Smiley logo for 2008, in addition to Jean Charles de Castelbajac the other brands proudly featuring the Smiley face will be denim label Religion and global fashion brand Tommy Hilfiger and French jewellery label N2.
