Shout! Factory and 4Kids Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:KDE) today announced a new agreement to bring the highly popular 4Kids TV animated series Dinosaur King to the home entertainment marketplace. This announcement was made by Garson Foos, President, Shout! Factory and Brian Lacey, Executive Vice President, 4Kids Entertainment. The multi-year deal provides Shout! Factory with licensing rights as the exclusive home entertainment distributor for Dinosaur King in the U.S. Multiple DVD titles, to include 49 half-hour episodes of this uniquely distinctive cel and CGI-animated hybrid series, are currently in pre-production, with the first to be released later this year. “This strategic partnership with 4Kids Entertainment continues to build on our growing success in distributing some of the premier animation and family brands in the marketplace,” said Foos. “We are thrilled to be working with 4Kids Entertainment. Dinosaur King has become one of the most distinctive animated series on television, with a highly successful presence in many countries across the world.” “We are excited to announce this phase of our licensing program for Dinosaur King and are looking forward to working with such a proficient distributor,” said Lacey. “The expertise that Shout! Factory brings in the distribution and retail facets of the home entertainment business will significantly expand the success of the Dinosaur King franchise.” Based on a popular international arcade and collectable card game from Sega, the fantasy adventure series Dinosaur King chronicles the spellbinding adventures of Max, Rex and Zoe, known as the D Team, who race around the world to uncover secrets that bring dinosaurs back to life. The biggest challenge for the three young heroes in this unforgettable race is to find all the dinosaur cards before they are found by the nefarious Alpha Gang. Set in the present time, Max, Rex and Zoe are able to transport themselves anywhere in the world to hunt down the coveted cards that have been lost by the time-traveling Dr. Z and his bumbling team of bad guys. Dinosaur King currently airs in the U.S. Saturday mornings on 4Kids TV (Fox), where it has earned solid ratings in the Kids’ 6-11 demo since its September 2007 premiere. The global broadcast lineup for Dinosaur King includes YTV (Canada), TV2 (Denmark), TV4 (Sweden), Mediaset (Italy), RTL2 (Germany), France 3 (France), Canal J (France) and Jetix (UK, Scandinavia, Spain and Latin America), among others. The show features over 100 dinosaurs in contemporary identifiable settings around the world. |
