Collectable and gift belt buckles featuring key characters

Start Licensing, one of the UK’s top licensing agencies with a strong client portfolio including DC Thomson, today announces a licensing deal with Tanside Limited to create a range of collectable and gift belt buckles. The buckles will feature a variety of the Beano and Dandy cult characters including Bananaman, Desperate Dan, Minnie the Minx and Korky the Cat.

Tanside Limited, who have a long history of over 40 years in developing collectable and gift belts, are producing the buckles from pewter and have embossed character designs that are painted in full colour. Consumers will be able to buy the buckles to wear but also to display as part of a collection. Retail distribution will also include Tanside Limited’s website (www.tanside.com) and specialist website ‘Fine and Dandy’, (www.fineanddandy.co.uk), and Tanside Limited plan to add further website vendors to their distribution shortly.

Ian Downes, Director of Start Licensing, comments; “The quality of this product range is tremendous. Tanside Limited have produced a high spec product and respected the heritage of the characters. This is quite a specialist product area but it is one that has a solid collector base and we know that The Beano and The Dandy have a rich heritage which appeals to collectors. Long term licensee Robert Harrop has shown that there is an appetite for collectables associated with these comics. To maximise the return it is important collectors are reached in a cost effective way and that they are fully informed about the breadth of the range. Tanside Limited’s website helps with this and their ability to supply retailers with a product mix helps as well.“

Jon Haynes, Managing Director, Tanside Limited, comments; “The production of these new products will complement our existing ranges well and form the perfect new addition to our strong portfolio of prestigious licenses. We have an established retail network and with the launch of this new collection we are confident it will generate new distribution opportunities.”
