![]() The Looney Tunes Sportparty comes to Berlin! During the great celebrations at the opening of the new US Embassy in Berlin children can expect an entertainment program loaded with games, events and lots of fun with the Looney Tunes. The Looney Tunes Sportparty will take place at the public Amerikafest 2008 on July 5 at Pariser Platz and around the Brandenburg Gate. The new embassy at Pariser Platz 2 will be officially opened by former US President George Bush senior, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and approximately 4.500 guests at the annual Independence Day reception on 4th of July. Ambassador William R. Timken, Jr. emphasized the historical significance, since the embassy is returning to the site where the old embassy was located. 1931 the United States government bought the old Palais Blücher at Brandenburg Gate, which has been demolished. In October 2004 they broke ground for the construction of the new American Embassy. July 5, one day after the official opening, all citizens of Berlin will be able to celebrate the historic event. At the big Amerikafest 2008 an attractive program with live music acts by Jocelyn B. Smith, Oscar Loya and Latest Edition will entertain the visitors. Especially for children the Looney Tunes Sportparty comes to the Amerikafest 2008. Kids and parents can look forward to a thrilling entertainment program loaded with numerous games and events and an activity area for the Looney Tunes Sportparty. Everybody can take part and challenge playfully their sense of balance, strength, speed, flexibility, endurance and team spirit. Moreover, the young athletes will get the chance to take pictures together with Tweety and Sylvester and may win a variety of great prizes. ![]() Martina Kressler, is the children’s dance expert at ADTV and the „creator“ of the Looney Tunes Sportparty parcours. She is planning to get thousands of kids to move together with her colleagues and will make sure the kids in Berlin learn how to dance to the new Looney Tunes songs: “It is so important to impart the joy to move to children. For this reason the Sportparty exercises are designed to give children that normally do not like to exercise a sense of achievement.” The Looney Tunes Sportparty stands for healthy exercises and fun. Last year the WarmUp already took place with the Looney Tunes for children and teachers in more than 500 elementary schools across Germany. The Looney Tunes Sportparty is an initiative of Warner Bros. Consumer Products, the German Dance Teachers Association (ADTV), the BARMER Health Insurance Fund, the State Institute for Early Childhood Education (IFP) and the “Diet and Physical Activity” Platform (peb). Boomerang, the 24-hour Cartoon channel, is supporting the Looney Tunes Sportparty as the exclusive TV partner. With the help of the popular and famous Looney Tunes, the events are aiming to encourage the natural urge to move for children of the ages six to ten years, advancing health and physical development. |
