MM MerchandisingMedia, the licensing and merchandising division of ProSiebenSat.1 Group, have signed an agreement with The Walt Disney Company Ltd. to acquire the licensing rights to the internationally top-rating US-shows “Desperate Housewives”, “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Lost”, “Alias” and “Ugly Betty” for Europe. This is the first time Disney assigns MM MerchandisingMedia with the merchandising rights to their successful TV shows. Their parent company ProSiebenSat.1 Media Group have already acquired TV broadcasting rights from Disney-ABC-ESPN Television to keep all under one roof.

“With the acquisition of the rights to these US top-series we further extend our licensing business and growth into international markets“ , said Sabine Eckhardt, managing director, MM MerchandisingMedia. “More than 200 million people from over 13 countries throughout Europe watch programmes aired by ProSiebenSat.1 Media Group. The broadcast of Disney’s top series by ABC Studios will certainly leverage strong new synergies.”

International exploitation on large scale

The acquisition of Europe licensing rights to the US top-rating shows enable MM MerchandisingMedia to provide licensing opportunities for almost all categories including fashion & accessories, personal care, home & living, toys & games as well as food & beverages, publishing, stationery and promotions. Individual property and product designs will be developed by MM MerchandisingMedia on behalf of Disney Company.
