adidas Originals is celebrating the 60th anniversary of the registration of the iconic 3-Stripes mark by partnering with MTV for a campaign launching on 1st February and running until 31st March across several international territories. As part of the campaign, adidas Originals will be sponsoring a 3 hour MTV block of programming: including ground-breaking videos and the best live festival performances from 2008. This will be supported with adidas Originals 30”/60” brand spots alongside a 20” competition announcement spot carrying a 'House Party' theme under the banner of Celebrate Originality. MTV, Facebook and adidas Originals are running a competition on MTV offering a chance to host an 'original' party for one winner and 60 of their friends. The partnership will also be supported by online elements.

France
Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products France (NVCP) scooped the prestigious ‘Prix de la Nouvelle License Junior Actukids 2009’ for its consumer products programme around newly launched Nick Jr pre-school property, Ni-Hao Kai Lan, it was announced on 21 January. In addition, the roll-out of SpongeBob by SpongeBob - a fresh creative take on Nickelodeon’s iconic animation, SpongeBob SquarePants, aimed at teens and young adults - was awarded the ‘Prix Special du Jury’.

Benelux
Fans of Dora the Explorer in the Netherlands were treated to a special ‘Dora the Explorer Winter Film’ event on Sunday 25 January when more than 1000 kids and parents got the chance to watch the Dora Saves the Snow Princess episode on the big screen. The event, which encompassed activities such as competitions, Nintendo DS and Wii gaming, food and drinks, goodie bags, character costumes, and a local dance school’s ballet performance, was styled with a Winter theme and held at the Cinemec cinema in Ede.

Germany
NVCP Germany has signed a two-year deal renewal with United Labels which will see more than 30 SpongeBob SquarePants branded products available to purchase at retail, online, and discounter outlets across Austria, Germany and Switzerland. SpongeBob SquarePants fans can expect a range of items such as mugs, bowls, alarm and wall clocks, towels, cushions, boxer shorts, socks and wallets.

Italy
MTV Networks Italia has entered into a multi-year agreement with leading licensing group, CPLG, to exclusively represent Nickelodeon’s global franchises, including animation hits, SpongeBob SquarePants and Avatar: The Legend of Aang, live action series iCarly and brand new pre-school property, Ni-Hao Kai Lan, in Italy. As part of the 2-year deal, CPLG will manage key local partnerships including Bontempi, Clemontoni, Edizioni Play Press, Mondo, and Panini, in coordination with NVCP, and oversee the apparel, accessories, stationery, food, confectionary, bags & travel, beauty & hygiene and publishing categories.

 

Programme Sales

MTV Networks International has inked deals with two key broadcasters in the EEC to air a slew of programming across its MTV, Nickelodeon and VH1 brands. Rustavi 2 (Georgia) has picked up seasons three, four and five of MTV’s cult car show, Pimp My Ride, along with VH1’s All Access and The Fabulous Life Of series and season one of Nickelodeon’s animation, Back at the Barnyard. Ukraine’s Kino TV has tapped Nickelodeon’s rich programming library, acquiring some of the brand’s best series, TV movies and specials including The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Angry Beavers, Catdog, Danny Phantom, Hey Arnold, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Oh Yeah Cartoons, Ren and Stimpy and Fairly Odd Parents. All series will broadcast in the market from this year.
