ZDF Enterprises Co-productions Triumph at New York Festival

ZDF Enterprises - February 2009

The TV movie "The Miracle of Berlin" has been awarded a Gold World Medal at the 2009 New York Festival. The two-part documentary "Armageddon – The Impact" ("Super Comet") reached the final round and received a Finalist Certificate.

The television production "The Miracle of Berlin" (featuring a star-studded cast including Kostja Ullmann, Karoline Herfurth, Veronica Ferres and Heino Ferch) tells the dramatic tale of an East German family in the 18 months leading up to the fall of the Berlin Wall and is based on a true story.

A Finalist Certificate was awarded to the two-part international co-production "Armageddon – The Impact" ("Super Comet") for reaching the last round of the event. 65 million years ago a gigantic asteroid struck the Earth and changed the face of the planet. 75% of all species became extinct, and the era of the dinosaurs was brought to a close. This two-part production shows what could happen if a comet of that magnitude were to hit our world today. This catastrophe scenario is based on sound scientific fact, employing a combination of documentary and fictitious scenes to create a thrilling docu-drama.

The Film & Video Awards of the New York Festival highlight the best TV productions and image films worldwide. Entries from over 30 countries all around the globe were considered in making these awards.

Worldwide marketing of all rights to these two prize-winning programs is handled by ZDF Enterprises.
