The game features two different phases: the journey and the mutiny. Players find themselves on the pirate’s ship, setting sails and leaving Gold Island behind. On their journey they visit different buccaneers in their cabins. These pirates (13 Pirate Cards) provide valuable Information, Fighting Cards or Gold – everything to be well-prepared for the upcoming mutiny. On their journey players have to use their Attitude Cards to decide which side they will fight on, when helmsman Ramon Diaz challenges Captain Valverde in the end. Players may influence the outcome of the final mutiny by collecting Fighting Cards, Gold Coins and Gold Cards and by strategically positioning their sailors on deck. During the actual mutiny sailors will challenge each other in duels. Each sailor features their own strength and may be supported by playing Fighting Cards. The game is over, when one party wins three or more duels. Now players turn over their cards and reveal their attitude. The player who took sides with the winning party AND was able to collect most of the gold wins! “Our Cartagena series consists of several independent games that share the background story and fate of the pirates that escaped from Cartagena,” said Michel M.
