Bandai Asia Acquires Rights to Sell Digimon Toys in Australia

Toei Animation Inc. and Bandai Asia Co., Ltd have finalized a toy licensing agreement for the animated kids’ series, Digimon Data Squad, it was announced today by Kanji Kazahaya, President and COO of Toei Animation Inc.

Bandai Asia has acquired the rights to sell Digimon toys in Australia, including a digivice data link, 1.5” collectible figures and 3.5” lightning digivolving figures. These products are currently available in retail stores.

“We are pleased to be working with Bandai Asia in expanding the Digimon brand and we’re confident that Bandai Asia will be an excellent ambassador for programming in this important territory,” said Kazahaya.

Digimon Data Squad follows the adventures of Marcus and his partner Digimon, Agumon as they challenge the menacing Digimon from the Digital World who intrude the Human World to cause nothing but trouble. For their efforts, the pair is inducted into DATS (Data Squad) a special investigation unit called in to ensure planetary safety. Being a reformed schoolyard punk, Marcus learns to channel his belligerence toward the evil Digimon, and to work as a team to help protect the human world from ruin. (48 x 30’)
