Within the target group of 3 to 13-year-olds the show achieved a market share of 9.7%, rising to 10.1% with the second episode. BAKUGAN ranked second best of all Tele 5 broadcasts among the key target group (ages 14 to 49) on 2 March 2009.

With a maximum of 293,000 viewers Tele 5 was able to keep up with market leader Pokemon on RTL2 (with up to 304,000 viewers). Only two other properties of the CTM portfolio – BEN10 and One Piece – were able to score more points on RTL2. Tele 5 clearly outstripped Nick with 128,000 viewers. Within the key target group (14 to 49) BAKUGAN reached 200.000 viewers, thus surpassing Pokemon’s 149,000 and NICK’s 54,000 viewers. Even SpongeBob SquarePants on SuperRTL only just exceeded BAKUGAN with 232,000 viewers among the 14 to 49-year-olds. BAKUGAN on Tele 5 even performed well on the children’s market with a share of 10%. CTM, a division of the Tele München Group, provides tailor-made advertising solutions for the children and adult market.

The licensing and marketing specialists of CTM – Concept TV & Merchandising GmbH and Cartoon Network, global licensor of the new worldwide successful and award-winning children’s franchise BAKUGAN, are thrilled by the brilliant debut on Tele 5 in German free TV. In addition Cartoon Network – world’s most successful children entertainment brand – airs BAKUGAN daily on pay TV. BAKUGAN looks set to become top newcomer license for 2009 and 2010. The Toy Innovation Awards jury at the International Toy Fair in Nuremberg this February saw this huge potential, too, and decorated the game to the series with the coveted German toy innovation award. At the presentation of the Top Industry Awards in New York in February 2009 BAKUGAN won the “Toy of the Year” award, the “Boy’s Toy of the Year” award for Spin Master and the title “Property of the Year” for Cartoon Network. BAKUGAN has long conquered the USA, Canada and many other markets around the globe. In 2008, 10 million BAKUGANS were sold in the United States alone.

The excellent start of the BAKUGAN series is not the only success made by CTM. The BAKUGAN toy line distributed by Upper Deck is also in great demand and additional promising agreements are already in the pipeline.
