The cold season is finally over and spring invites people to go outside. The so longed-for summer holiday trip seems just around the corner. But even the summer/sun/outdoor season is no reason to do without entertaining play fun. A match of catching and throwing with Cosmic Catch after a picnic on the meadow is just as entertaining as a game of the crazy classic Twister to whet the appetite for a barbecue evening. And for those who finally find time to play with their family when on holiday, the large range of Parker and MB pocket games provides everything they need.

We love to present Hasbro’s seasonal highlights. Read on and find out how to make your summer time and holiday trip even more entertaining.

Top Event: The German Monopoly Championship

Endstation Frankfurt Main Station

Hans-Georg Schellinger from Reutlingen is Germany’s Monopoly Champion for the second time in a row. On 18 April 2009 at the entrance hall of Frankfurt Main Station and within only 90 minutes the refrigeration mechanic (45 years old) drove all his opponents into bankruptcy. Thus Schellinger was able to reclaim his title from 2004. In October, he will travel to the Official Monopoly World Championship in Las Vegas and challenge 39 other national champions. All participants not only play for the honour of being world’s best monopoly player, but also fight for 20 580 US dollars prize money – that is the exact amount a US monopoly game contains in toy money.

Top Event: Play-Doh 2009 Play School Award

The Play-Doh 2009 Play School Award activities are in full progress: More than 180 play schools developed wonderful project concepts and applied for this year’s creativity contest. Now the decision has been made: 30 play schools will participate and 150 children may already consider themselves to be little winners: Play-Doh supports their projects with a grant of 250 Euros each and 18 kg Play-Doh dough. Whether they want to visit the circus or the nearest fire brigade or even produce their own stop-motion film – there’s is no limit to the wealth of ideas creative educationalists want to realize in this year’s event competition. When the exciting trip is over, children translate their experiences into fantastic dough artwork. Play-Doh wishes all participants the best for their projects and a lot of fun! In the end, the top three dough masterpieces will be awarded the Play-Doh Play School Award of 2000 Euros.

Hasbro Summer Special: play fun for outdoors and on the way

Throwing game with inbuilt NAV AID

Cosmic Catch, 2008 Toy Awards winner, is just the right companion for a sunshine picnic on the meadow or at the beach. The handball-sized Cosmic Catch is the first ball with inbuilt navigation aid and provides load of play fun outdoors – guaranteed! The ball issues commands and decides which player the ball should be passed to. Each player wears one of a set of differently coloured hand bands that the ball is able to recognize: “Blue, yellow, red … who will be able to catch.” You are too slow or pass to the wrong player – you are out!

Twister turns the BBQ area into a hot spot

Twister, the classic activity game par excellence, is popular with children, young people and families at the same time. And while the barbeque cools, the MB game is the perfect event for the park or the beach. The Twister mat always inspires funny contortion challenges. Even more practical: “Party Twister” – the pocket edition of the classic game. The game comes in a handy bag and features a Frisbee dial for more action fun outdoors.
