Disney partners with nursery chain and celebrity gardener to launch Winnie The Pooh children’s campaign

Disney today announces the launch of a campaign to get young children across the country involved in gardening, spearheaded by Winnie-the-Pooh. Teaming with national nursery chain Busy Bees and well-known gardener Charlie Dimmock, children at each participating nursery will be creating their own Winnie-the-Pooh-themed gardens, with parents and friends sponsoring them to help raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

Each of the 135 branches in the Busy Bees chain has received their own Winnie-the-Pooh garden pack, containing a selection of seeds and a gardening guide featuring this much loved bear and his friends, together with a list of hints and tips from Charlie Dimmock.

As well as creating their own Winnie-the-Pooh-themed garden, nurseries will also submit designs for their ‘dream garden’ to be judged by Charlie Dimmock alongside representatives from Disney and Busy Bees, with the eventual winner receiving a special visit from Charlie.

Charlie Dimmock commented: “I’m a firm believer in the positive effects of children spending more time outdoors and this Winnie-the-Pooh gardening initiative is a great way of getting their imaginations working and having some green-fingered fun with one of world’s best-loved bears!”

Dominic Worsley, Franchise Marketing Director, Disney Consumer Products added: “We are very pleased to have Busy Bees on board as our nursery partner for this campaign. Winnie-the-Pooh love of being outdoors as well as his inquisitive nature, innocence, imagination and humour means is the perfect character to help get young children excited about gardening.”
