    Nickelodeon and Consumer Products in France (NVCP) has signed a brand new deal with Albin Michel, one of the country’s biggest publishing houses, to launch the first-ever Dora the Explorer branded pocket story book. Aimed at 6-7 year olds, the 64-page ‘p’tit tome’ will be available from June at airports, bookshops, department stores, news kiosks, book clubs and supermarkets throughout multiple French-speaking markets including Belgium, France, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Morocco, Switzerland and Tunisia.

    • Key iCarly consumer products ranges are set to make their debut this Autumn for Xmas 2009. Global gaming outfit Activision is set to launch iCarly videogames for Nintendo Wii and DS and master toy licensee Vivid Imaginations in conjunction with Playmates Toys Inc will launch a range of toys and tween electronics encompassing figures, play sets and role play items which will be TV supported from November. In addition, Alligator Books will launch a range of activity books this Summer with International Greetings debuting a stationery range and Pyramid Posters launching posters and badges. Martin Yaffe will launch a range of wheeled toys and hair electricals and Trade Mark Collections will launch a range of fashion backpacks and bags.
    • Nickelodeon UK will be bringing SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora The Explorer to five major Shopping Centres across the UK this August as part of an interactive extravaganza for kids aged 3-12 and their parents. Nickelodeon will stage a range of entertainment for two full days in each shopping centre allowing kids to interact with SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer. The initiative is a key element in Nickelodeon’s experiential marketing strategy which aims to bring the entertainment to wherever kids are. The activity will also maximise the opportunity to generate footfall to key retailers of the properties’ product lines such as Argos, Boots, BHS, Claire’s Accessories, Clinton’s Cards, Early Learning Centre, Game, HMV, Mothercare and New Look.

  • MTV Networks International has signed two brand new deals in Europe along with a slew of inked deals in Latin America:
    • DR in Denmark has picked up The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, along with the show’s Global Edition and Portugal’s TVI will air tween made-for-TV movie, American Mall from this year.
    • Nickelodeon’s iCarly, the first-ever scripted series to incorporate kid-created original content into a live action tween show, has been sold into six markets across Latin America including Chile (Canal 13), Costa Rica (Teletica), Ecuador (Teleamazonas), Mexico (Televisa), Panama (Medcom) and Venezuela (Venevision). Meanwhile, ten deals have been inked for Nickelodeon’s comedy animation, Back at the Barnyard, also in the Latin American market. Deals include Artear (Argentina), Globo TV (Brasil), Megavision (Chile), RCN (Columbia), Teletica (Costa Rica), Antena Latina 7 (Dominican Republic), Teleamazonas (Ecuador), Televisa (Mexico), Medcom (Panama) and America TV (Peru).
