Summer, sun, and holidays: Now families enjoy the most beautiful time of the year. Finally they have enough time for each other and time to do exciting things together. Apart from family holidays, this might be day trips and creative activities including crafts, model making, woodwork and metalwork.
One of Germany’s most popular leisure time activities still is plastic model making. Due to a large variety of themes and topics model making enables fans to imitate the big, wide world “en miniature”. Germany’s leading manufacturer of true-to-the-original model kits is Revell Company in Bünde. Each year 80 to 100 new products – including ships, cars, trucks, bikes and aeroplanes – roll off the company’s assembly line. The product portfolio not only covers manifold theme worlds; it also offers different levels of difficulty and provides many incentives for junior model makers.
Just in time for the summer holidays Revell launch some of this year’s most spectacular novelties to the toy market. One of their summer highlights is a model of the legendary deluxe VW Transporter T1, often called the "Samba Bus". The VW special edition with oval roof windows, folding roof, very comfortable seats and the reliable rear engine made the VW the prototype minibus in the 60ies. Another prototype and the very symbol of the former DDR is the Trabant 601. On occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Fall of the Wall the limousine of the 601 is an absolute must-have amongst Revell’s new releases. |

The number of new releases in the aircraft segment is especially large. A wonderful model for beginning model makers are the easykit snap model kits of the largest passenger aircrafts on Earth in 1:288 scales, the Airbus A380 and the Boeing 747. In the classic segment of plastic model making Revell add another popular high performance glider to their portfolio. The Duo Discus glides onto toy retail shelves in 1:32 scales. The Avro Lancaster was one of the most famous RAF heavy bombers during the Second World War. With its 224 individual parts the highly detailed “Dambusters” model is one of Revell’s more challenging model kits. |
Equally diversified are the new releases from the ships segment. The most impressive innovation is the Columbo Express, world’s largest container ship in 2005. Another highlight is the German Submarine Type VII C in 1:350 scales. |
