Sybarit – Trivia game for an evening in style

A sybarite is a person devoted to pleasure and enjoyment, a bon vivant, a connoisseur, a gourmet – in short: For the sybarite indulging in pleasures lends meaning to life itself. “Sybarites” were the inhabitants of the ancient Greek colony Sybaris in South Italy. The City of Sybaris was founded by the Greeks at the east coast of Calabria in 720 BC. The land was fertile and trade flourished – so Sybaris soon became an important city and gained in power and size. The Sybarites were known for their magnificence and luxury and established their reputation of living life to its fullest possible enjoyment. War and violence destroyed the City of Sybaris as well as the whole colony in 510 BC and most unfortunately, all their splendid recipes are lost …

Four different categories challenge and encourage your knowledge. Players may choose their level of difficulty, but each question is in a class of its own: Wine connoisseurs will consider the question “What is a fiasco?” to be child’s play, but what might an Ochsenauge be? Also a training in good behaviour and social manners will pay off, when you have to answer questions like “What does the lady wear, when the gentlemen goes in tailcoat?”.
