Warner Bros. - July 2009

„Batman: Arkham Asylum“ – RELEASE OF NEW WBCP VIDEO GAME SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 28, 2009

Last year the critically acclaimed blockbuster "The Dark Knight" broke every box-office record and showed a darker and more somber side of one of the world’s most-popular super heroes. Now Batman embarks on another exciting manhunt in the brand new video game “Batman: Arkham Asylum“ (for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC). The thrilling fight of the ”Dark Knight“ against his archenemy The Joker begins August 28, 2009.

The setting of the new game is Gotham City’s lunatic asylum “Arkham Asylum“, home to Gotham’s most dangerous psychopaths. This is where Batman takes The Joker after finally capturing him. However, it soon becomes clear that the villain’s imprisonment is just part of another insidious plan to destroy Batman. Suddenly Batman has to test his mettle against the seemingly overwhelming superiority of Gotham’s criminals.

With “Batman: Arkham Asylum“ Warner Bros. licensees, video games publisher Eidos, and game developer Rocksteady present a unique action-adventure, which might be one of the most mature Batman missions so far. It was developed by Paul Dini, five-time Emmy winner and author of the DC comic book series ”Batman: The Animated Series“. The enthrallingly implemented game with its intense atmosphere captivates the player with a mix of action elements and tricky riddles to solve. Besides powerful close-combat techniques Batman has an array of weapons and instruments at his disposal to fight The Joker. In the course of the game the player is able to improve Batman’s abilities and employ new techniques and weapons.

The fighting scenes are set in the halls of “Arkham Asylum“ which, with their fantastic realistic visual design, are waiting to be explored, as well as on “Arkham Island“. The characters were created by DC Comics/Wildstorm Productions in order to keep as close to the comic book original as possible. Moreover the dubbing speakers of Christian Bale (Batman) and Christopher Walken (Joker) were hired to lend their voices to the German language version.
