Austria’s great classic party game celebrates its birthday with a Golden Anniversary Edition

20 years of drawing shooting stars, imitating piggy banks and explaining ribbon noodles – that should be worth a birthday party. With more than 5 million sold copies, “Activity” is one of the most successful Austrian board game of all times. On occasion of its big two-oh Piatnik launch a grand anniversary edition in golden outfit – perfectly suited for glittering parties!

For all those who might think, after 20 years Activity has come of age and lost some of its humour, creativity or action – far from it! Also the anniversary edition gives playing and fun top priority. The approved play idea remains almost unchanged and the game still revolves around doodling, pantomiming and explaining words. And, again, you are welcome to use your hands, your feet and – of course – your laugh muscles!

For additional fun the anniversary edition comes with 14 golden squares, scattered all over the board. Whenever a team lands on such a square, they are confronted with a “Golden Task”. And that will naturally be far from easy: How to doodle a saying like: “Der Himmel hängt voller Geigen” (literally: The sky is full of violins – meaning: see the world through rose-coloured glass)? How to pantomime pitching a tent? And how to explain a saying like “Head over heels”?

But even if they make your head spin, these squares definitely pay off. The team who has been able to collect most golden cards swap their token for a golden horse in glittering party-look and move on even faster. The racehorse plus jockey resembles the official Piatnik brand, which – by the way – is one of the oldest brands in Austria and first became a registered trademark back in 1891. To make thing even more exciting the anniversary edition intensifies competition on the board. The beginning

“The secret to the success of Activity is a perfect mixture of creative and entertaining elements, humour, communication, interaction and fun”, said the Austrian games company Piatnik. The classic party game is based upon an idea of Austrian game designers Catty/Führer, who build the creative basis of Activity on a mild summer evening in the Steiermark more than 20 years ago. The concept is simple, the rules are easy to learn. Activity inspires the young and the not-so-young, is a perfect family game and an unparalleled hit for any party.

Activity is still the only board game that has its own TV show in Germany and Hungary. In addition to the classic game, Piatnik also launched several variants for different occasions, including the Activity Professional, Compact or Turbo, the Activity Club Edition and Activity Travel.
