The Licensing Academy at this year’s Brand Licensing Europe launches with 12 top quality sessions including two not-to-be-missed keynotes. Tackling the most crucial issues facing European licensing professionals, the Licensing Academy is the only free-to-attend Europe-wide licensing conference for licensors, licensees, retailers, promotional agents and marketers. Sessions attracted more than 600 delegates in 2008. This year, the Licensing Academy is enjoying three firsts: brand new session categories (Trend Tracker, European Focus and Knowledge Builder); a focus on video games licensing and a breakfast seminar created specifically for independent retailers with expert advice on starting and/or building a licensed product offering. A Trend Tracker presentation from NPD in association with Planet Retail will also be of particular interest to retailers as it outlines key future growth categories for licensing. A further two Trend Tracker sessions will explore how to create successful digital environments that engage with kids and how to weather the economic storm and survive the recession. The daily European Focus sessions reflect the ever increasing European nature of the event, which has attracted growing visitor and exhibitor numbers from continental Europe year on year, and will address cross-border licensing issues. The six Knowledge Builder sessions complete this year’s Licensing Academy programme. They are designed both for experienced licensing professionals who are keen to brush up on their knowledge base and for newcomers to the industry. Knowledge Builder sessions will look at essential issues such as negotiating a licensing contract; royalties, pricing and financial know-how; and taking licensed properties from screen to shelf. Showcomotion children’s media conference will deliver a special report on the key trends in children’s television to open the first keynote address. This will be followed by a presentation from a leading producer giving attendees rich insight into what gives a winning children’s programme its magic, and how to make it a success from screen to shop shelf. The second keynote address will feature a leading figure from the world of children’s entertainment and will be announced next month. “This year’s Licensing Academy is our most comprehensive offering yet and we’re sure it’s going to be even more popular than last year, when sessions were frequently packed to the rafters,” commented event director Jessica Blue. Licensing Academy sessions are free for all visitors to attend. Visitors must pre-register for a pass to Brand Licensing Europe at www.brandlicensingeurope.com in order to attend the Licensing Academy. The full line up of sessions can be found on the same website. Sessions fill up very quickly so delegates are advised to arrive at least ten minutes before the session starts. Brand Licensing Europe is the leading event in Europe for the licensing industry, taking place in London on 30 September and 1 October 2009. The event attracts in excess of 4,000 high quality retailers, licensees, manufacturers, distributors and sales promotion agents. |
