KidScreen Announces Its Inaugural Kids Programming Awards

The kids’ entertainment industry’s leading magazine is thrilled to announce the launch of the KidScreen Awards, a truly global celebration of children’s programming excellence.

In a high-profile presentation event to be held during KidScreen Summit, which is set to take place in New York from February 10 to 12 next year, the KidScreen Awards will pay tribute to outstanding content from around the world that entertains and engages children and their families. Covering Preschool (0 to 5), Kids (6 to 10), Tweens/Teens (11 to 17) and Families, entries are now being accepted in the following categories:
  • Best Animated Series
  • Best Non-Animated or Mixed Series
  • Best One-off, Special or TV Movie
  • Best Companion Website
Winners will be determined by juries of the industry’s most highly regarded experts in these audience fields, who will also single out projects that merit special Creative Talent Awards for animation, directing, voice talent, writing, music, design and acting. Judges on-board to date include:
  • Deirdre Brennan (Director of Programming, Nickelodeon Australia)
  • Michael Carrington (Controller, CBeebies)
  • Dea Connick Perez (independent consultant)
  • Amy Friedman (SVP of Original Programming, The N)
  • Jocelyn Hamilton (VP of Programming and Production, Corus Kids)
  • Sylvia Schmoeller (Senior Manager of Acquisitions and Co-productions, Super RTL)
  • Caroline Tyre (Director of Programming, Teletoon)
  • David Wiebe (Director of Content, YTV)
PLUS, KidScreen is recruiting panels of kids and parents from around the world to pick their overall favorite programs!
