BRANDORA Editorial Staff - September 2009

FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME), the commercial and brand extension arm of FremantleMedia, announces the appointment of Mel Alcock as CEO for the EMEA region. This announcement completes a series of regional CEO appointments for FME as it shifts towards a more regional focus whilst leveraging its expertise across the larger FremantleMedia global network. This structure will allow FME to move the business forward across its international television distribution, home entertainment, and licensing businesses, with a concentration on digital technology and new platforms to meet the demands of a fast-changing media and entertainment industry.

In his new role, Alcock will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the performance of FME’s operations across the core current EMEA markets of the UK, France and Germany, whilst developing growth strategies for Turkey, Greece, the Middle East and Sub-Saharan African, including South Africa. He will be looking to develop FME’s distribution business in the region, maximizing the potential of titles from FremantleMedia’s own production network, along with high quality content from third parties. He will also continue to actively seek wide-reaching opportunities to extend all brands within the FME portfolio as well as new content acquired. Alcock will be based in London and report directly to David Ellender, Global CEO of FremantleMedia Enterprises.

“Mel comes to FME with a variety of expertise and experience in the media sector. This will enable him to make a tremendous contribution to the business as we look for new areas of expansion, and will complement the strong talent already on board. We believe Mel will embrace and excel in the opportunities presented by his new role, and work effectively with our other regional CEOs to successfully drive FME forward as a highly successful and creative business,” commented David Ellender, Global CEO, FremantleMedia Enterprises.

Mel Alcock, CEO, EMEA, FremantleMedia Enterprises said, “Joining the company at such an exciting time of change and progression is both a challenge and a privilege. FME is the largest independent international distributor with a worldwide reputation and significant market presence. There is already an exceptional team in place in the EMEA region, with excellent local knowledge and the ability to tap into the wider global FremantleMedia network. I am looking forward to working with the team to maintain and maximise the FME’s performance in the region, and around the world.” Prior to his new role, Alcock was Chief Client Officer at iCrossing, the UK's No.1 Search and Social Digital Agency. This follows on from his work as Senior Vice President, Commercial Affairs at Jetix Europe Ltd, and Head of Commerce for Interactive Programming at BSkyB Ltd.
