Seven Films Are U.S. TV Premieres The Documentary Channel® (DOC) has reached an exclusive agreement with 7th Art Releasing to televise a collection of 10 high quality and film festival favorites from the 7th Art library, it was announced today by The Documentary Channel Founder and Chief Creative Officer, Tom Neff and 7th Art Releasing Principal, Udy Epstein. DOC, the first and only 24-hour U.S. television network devoted exclusively to independent documentary films, secured the exclusive 7th Art Releasing film package with a multi-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed. "We're pleased to continue our relationship with 7th Art Releasing with this new package. Each of these films exemplifies what we love about independent documentaries: a compelling story that viewers would never otherwise get to see. We're thrilled to be able to present this variety of films to our viewers,” explains Kate Pearson, The Documentary Channel’s senior vice president of programming. “It's great to bring some of 7th Art's favorite films to The Documentary Channel where good docs are always appreciated and promoted through traditional and new media. We value greatly the channel's dedication to documentaries. And our filmmakers love the exposure,” notes Udy Epstein, principal of 7th Art Releasing. The exclusive television deal with 7th Art Releasing includes an eclectic assortment of 10 film festival favorites including “Word Wars,” the official selection at the Sundance Film Festival and the award winning film “The Happy Hooker: Portrait of a Sexual Revolutionary,” among many others:
The 7th Art Releasing film package will premiere on DOC beginning in November 2009, with specific titles and telecast schedules to be announced at a later date. |
