“Kambu” and “Suckers” received in Cannes two of the three children’s jury awards for animated series set to premier soon
Kambu and Suckers, two of BRB International‘s new series, were awarded two Kids’ Jury Prizes yesterday in Cannes by a panel of young viewers. During the closing ceremonies at MIPJUNIOR, 18 children of different ages from the International School of Nice chose the three best cartoon series set for release soon in their target-audience categories – from 3 to 14 years old. Kambu won the best pre-school show award – aimed at kids 3 to 6 – while Suckers took the top honor for the best kids’ series for an audience from 7 to 10 years old. The Kids’ Jury Prizes, awarded for the first time this year, were organized by MIPJUNIOR in cooperation with the specialized magazines from the world of License Global!, Kazachok and Kidscreen, along with the French TV presenter Billy and his Website Billyweb (www.billyweb.fr) .

Kambu (104 x 6’) is an original short-format comedy, done in Hi-Def 3D and starring an endearing little mail-dog who must come to terms with the adventure of learning and understanding at his new home, Mystery Island. The life of Kambu is Challenge and Discovery... everyday! This innocent, curious and entrepreneurial little puppy’s job consists of delivering good news, greeting cards and any kind of presents to the inhabitants of a strange place which appears to be designed by the laws of an upside-down world. The Series, which will be available for broadcast in 2010, is produced by Screen 21 –the BRB’s creative boutique- and Characterkorea. |
The secret life of Suckers (104 x 2’) presents a sympathetic view of modern life from the perspective of some rather original little protagonists: designer dolls – Art Toys – that live onto the back windows of cars. Increasingly hailed as a cutting-edge project on the global TV animated scene, this is a co-production between Screen 21, Genoma Animation and Televisió de Catalunya (TVC). And the series has already been acquired for premiere on Disney XD in the U.S. next year. |

For Carlos Biern, BRB International’s Executive VP - Coproductions & Worldwide Distribution, both these Kids’ Jury prizes, for Kambu and Suckers, “constitute a great incentive to continue all the innovative and far-reaching productions that we are currently developing, especially if we keep in mind that these prizes were given out by the very children to whom these upcoming cartoon releases are aimed.” In fact, the kids themselves have ratified with these awards BRB’s motto: “Our Passion – Making Kids Happy.” |
