Bloomingdale´s Partners With Warner Bros. Consumer Products To Celebrate 75th Anniversary Of DC Comics

Unprecedented In-store Shops and Windows Showcase Exclusive Collection of Merchandise Inspired by the World of DC Comics from Designers Including Trunk, Junk Food, JACK SPADE, Converse, Psycho Bunny and Because We Were Bored

In a groundbreaking partnership, which brings the powerful world of DC Comics Super Heroes together with one of the nation’s most prominent retailers, Bloomingdale’s stores and Warner Bros. Consumer Products have joined forces to celebrate the upcoming 75th anniversary of DC Comics. This holiday season, Bloomingdale’s will debut brand-new shops featuring DC Comics-inspired clothing and accessories that are sure to be among the season’s most sought-after gifts. Designers contributing to the exclusive collection include Trunk, Junk Food, Converse, Psycho Bunny and JACK SPADE in men’s and Because We Were Bored in Young World.

Continuing the infusion of pop culture from Bloomingdale’s fall film campaign, the DC Comics’ shops will feature culturally relevant merchandise that will be this holiday season’s answer to fresh and innovative gift giving. In addition, DC Comics has released rarely-seen comic book imagery to be showcased exclusively by Bloomingdale’s during this initiative.

Consumer Products to provide our customers with new and exclusive products inspired by the world of DC Comics is what the Bloomingdale’s shopping experience is all about,” says Kevin Harter, vice president of fashion direction for Bloomingdale’s. “Customers love their favorite comic book heroes and what better way to honor 75 years of DC Comics’ indelible mark on popular culture than during the holidays.”

DC Comics began publishing in 1935 (NEW FUN COMICS #1, the first DC comic book), and will celebrate its 75th anniversary in 2010, with a multi-faceted, yearlong slate of activities heralded by the DC Comics’-inspired collection at Bloomingdale’s this month.

Bloomingdale’s kicks off its festivities on the evening of October 14 with a special event for its customers at store locations around the country. These “New York Nights” events will be action-packed, Gotham-style celebrations highlighted by hors d'oeuvres and fashion to launch the exclusive collection inspired by DC Comics.

Additionally, the famed Third Avenue windows of Bloomingdale’s flagship 59th Street store in Manhattan will highlight the DC Comics 75th anniversary collection, beginning in early November.

Consumer Products. “We are delighted that Bloomingdale’s, an American cultural icon with a venerable reputation in retail, will exclusively kick off the 75th anniversary celebration with innovative shops and exclusive products perfectly suited to the characters of DC Comics.”

The men’s collection will include t-shirts, socks, scarves, tote bags and wallets, as well as ties, cufflinks and pocket squares. Bloomingdale’s Young World department will also carry limited DC Comics-inspired products during the holiday season, including tees and hoodies from Because We Were Bored. The DC Comics collection will range in price from $30 for a pair of Psycho Bunny socks to $225 for a JACK SPADE tote, and will be available in all stores with Men’s and Young World departments.
